The stock air filter is made from non-woven plastic filter media. It is really a great step up from old school paper(cellulose) filtration media. Notice how large it is. The stock intake is pretty well designed. The additional chambers are designed to reduce 'bad' noise - we think they've done too good a job in noise reduction.
BTW: Our intake is not very loud - especially under part-throttle conditions like cruising.
