Dsm's and evo's have a 7000rpm redline, but the valvetrain can easily handle 8-8500 rpm. While an 8000 rpm redline might be pushing it a bit, that doesnt mean the engine wont be able to handle it. Some heavier springs and retainers will allow a 2.0L engine to rev to 9-9500rpm if you want, but a small turbo wont be able to push that amount of air at that kind of rpm. A bigger turbo and cams will be needed.
Whats the point of reving that high when the power curve drops off at 6000 rpm?
