I purchased one of the Jay Windscreens off E-bay and when I got it it had a chrome piece of rubber door edge molding over the top of it, I did not know it had this when I placed the order and I thought it looked real tacky and when I removed it I realized that the reason the guy put these on there is to cover up the ruff edges along the top. It had to have been cut out with a jig saw from a template or something because the left side was not the same as the right side. Also he should include some longer screws with it because using my factory screws to mount it they were not long enough due to the think ness of the windscreen. I did not think it was worth 80.00! Actually I didn't even want it on my beautiful car. So....
I place an order with the Kappa company for one of there windscreen shields and paid a little bit more for a much better product. I think the Kappa shield is great for blocking the wind. I wanted to have SOLSTICE engraved into it and thought about hooking a light to the edge to make it glow, I got this idea from a listing off E-bay that has illuminated etched wind blockers for sale. The shape of them looks just like the Kappa ones and I thought I would be able to save some money and make my own that illuminated. Well I took it and spend 65.00 having a engraver shop do the art work and then I spent 25.00 on a small neon light and glued it to the bottom of it and I just couldn't get it to light up much less could I get the trunk to close! I found out that the Lexan that Kappa uses, the edges can not be polished due to the material and there for you cant make them illuminate. So after spending hundreds of dollars trying to make mine light up with a logo on it I failed and decided to go ahead and order the one off the E-bay listing under " illuminated Solstice" I got it in 3 days and it was EXACTLY what I wanted! The quality is the best out of all 3 wind blockers I ordered. The quality of the material used is awesome and extremely scratch resistant. The design could not be any better. I used to get a lot of looks with my Solstice but now I can not believe the attention it gets! I have had a few people stop me and ask where I got it I love it!!! It cost me a lot trying to make my own and could not get it right this guy has perfected the design and it is the most awesome accessory I have seen yet. I was thinking about mounting some red lights under the dash and seats to give off a red shadow to match the windscreen I will try and list photos when I get this done too!
