The Red Bull drift Solstice GXP engine has nothing in common with the production GXP enigne. They didn't even start with a GXP. It's a 2.4L port injection engine with a standalone engine management system (HKS?), billet crank shaft, forged rods and pistons, different cams, custom manifolds, etc. That engine has more in common with the 2.4L simply because it's not direct injection.
The GXP chassis is basically the same but has different rate bushings, standard stability control, brake ducts for cooling, and different suspension.
I have a 2.4L Sky that's getting turbo'd, but if I were buying new it would probably be a toss up. It will be easier to make more power with a built 2.4L because parts for port injection engines are readily available. But it will cost more in the long run.
