It really boils down to what you final expectations are when power adding. My first consideration was reliability and with the three systems I considered, I felt it was a wash. Second was the power level limitation of the adder in conjunction with how far I am willing to push the stock motor or continue with more internal mods as required. IMO that was were I think I prefered a turbo for this application over a s/c. At the time I think Hahns stage II was producing power gains equal to the s/c, with stage III close to 300 HP near release and Stage IV still in testing and showing good (still preliminary) reliability results on a stock motor. First, I have not had the opportunity to ride in a s/c sol. But these are pretty high revving motors even without driving in a spirited fashion. The turbo lag of my car is not un-noticeable, but the motor gets to 3.2k rpm's in a hurry and the threshold crossing is so smooth that I find it hard to see that much of an advantage for a s/c application with this 4 cylinder. Unlike a low revving 8 cylinder. Then if and when I get hungry for more power I have the potential to squeeze another 50-60 HP out of a turbo. I think it has the potential to be little less maintenance free or requires keeping an eye on, but as I've stated, most guys that power add like to tinker anyway. So both are good/great additions to a beautiful car that needed a kick in the rear. What final results are you after and are you sure 245 is enough.
