If you don't plan on buying a '06 or '07 then your car won't be effected. 2008s are NOT on the Recall List.
Plus, the recall notice has NOT been sent out yet - IIRC dealers will be made aware of any vehicle on their lot that falls under this recall notice and the proper repairs will be made AFTER the Feb 8th notices go out.
The only reason that would cause a repair to be done prior to receiving a RECALL NOTICE would be if the PINION SEAL is already leaking.
