I spoke to the dealer this morning. They did not drain the differential fluid. He simply changed the seal. The tech said they lost very little lubricant and simply topped the differential off.
Word to the wise. If you're going in for the recall, then don't assume they'll change your differential fluid. If you want it done, then you'll need to insist before the work is started. I wish I had.
