Exhaust must have a muffler, and I would plan on using the Solo high-flow cat.
At idle, I want to be either the same as stock, or just a bit louder.
When driving, I want the exhaust/engine to sound smooth, not ricer honda-ish with a $20 pepboys muffler. When the rpm's increase, the loudness increases of course, but I want a really smooth sounding exhaust, maybe Porsche like or something?
I kinda wanted the same thing thing. I want to wait on a full performance exhaust with high-flow cat until BSR comes out with a stage 2 tune, but I was ready for some improved rumble. This morning I had a local shop install a MagnaFlow muffler, keeping the original factory tips and most of the plumbing (2.5"). Picture below:
They were pretty creative with the plumbing. I originally was going to get the FlowMaster 80, but I just prefered a steel muffler when all was said and done. I gotta admit that the jury is still out on the sound, as it was pretty cold (that would be Tx cold for you yankees

) and windy. Cockpit noise and idle were just slightly louder than stock and much deeper. It sounded pretty good under acceleration, but I still can't really tell until the top comes down and the wind dies off. The muffler and install were $370 and two guys took slightly over an hour to do it. I did like the gurgle when you backed off on it though. Eventually I would like to add the high-flow cat.
