What lilG is refering to is there was a CAI on the market (like many) that threw MAF codes in some vehicles. The vendor for that part "fixed" it by installing a reducer inside the pipe and that seemed to clear up problems for that particular CAI.
While some here have stated they find the "fix" difficult to accept, lilG was pointing out that the "fixed" CAI flowed better than the stock straight tube.

Hope that helps clear a few things up.
