Think that is the function of the Soft Top option. The Soft Top does store in the back. Caught away from home, install the Soft Top.

Long extended road trips would be a horse of a different color. But could see the Soft Top doing the job. Not that much different thatn having a Convertible Top above you now.

From the way the releases sound, they may have raised the floor in the back to match the height of the "Temple". Thus creating storage compartments around the base of the "Temple", where open space is now. Soft Top stores in one of those areas.
