Not that it will be more than a drop in any city or county's budget. But when the economy tanks, you can be sure the local Constabulatory is read the riot act to get out there and WRITE WRITE WRITE dem tickets.

It is only anecdotal, but I've seen a huge increase in people pulled over and getting tickets form CHP, police, Sherrif, you name it. I'm sure even Dogcatchers are out fully in force, Kevlar helmets, radar-guided nets, butt seeking beacons...

It is a bad time right now to invited a chance greeting with Officer Bob either with unlawful mods or bad driving. For the next few months at least, I would advise everybody to play within the rules.

I drive 42 miles to work everyday, and about 35 of that is highway driving, and there is not a single morning I drive on this stretch where there isn't at least 2 vehicles pulled over, and one is always a tanker or semi truck. They are looking for anything... ANYTHING. I will not go 5 MPH over the speed limit anymore simply out of fear of getting a ticket.
