Many folks don't know that the reason the Kappa trunk is so diminutive is rather a chain of events, all leading back to the very thing that makes these cars so awesome, their chassis:
The fuel tank could not be mounted low in the car due to the robust chassis structure underneath the trunk region. As such, the tank had to be mounted high, protruding into the 'trunk', while also making room for the folding top. A concession, to be sure, but one for the very best reason...PERFORMANCE!
