The engine is hotter than the oil and coolant. Energy only transfers from hot to cold. If the coolant (where your temp is measured) is reading lower, it actually means less energy is transfering into the coolant. By your statements, less energy is transferring to the coolant and the engine is running hotter, but the cooling system is running lower. Unless there is less combustion that before or a frictional loss that amounts to 5-10% of the energy, oil cannot make the engine run cooler.

I can change my transmission fluid to olive oil and it will shift smoother the first couple times. You can't just make a change, then use nonobjective or scientific conclusions to determine that the cause is something you paid extra money for. You concluded these things would happen before you changed it, and now you're convincing yourself why. Change your oil, use synthetic (a real synthetic, not synthetic blend), and don't waste your money, please.

I've worked in oil/lubricants research, don't trick yourself.
