you always see brands bragging that the cross drilled holes are chamfered. once you turn the rotors, the chamfers are gone.
i had a set of crossdrilled rotors on my old Z28 and i didn't have a problem, but i never autoX, either.
I've almost never seen or heard of a problem with slotted rotors cracking. Drilled rotors crack all the time and are not recommended for track/race use in general. OEM drilled rotors can be stronger than aftermarket because of the way the holes are cast into the rotor versus drilled later after it's been manufactured. If you track or autox your car, go with slotted or just plain flat rotors. I personally use slotted on my race car but flat/plain works fine also. Cooling and proper brake use is more important in that regard.
