Actually I'm amazed at how well the car is holding up under all the mods. Stock clutch, no drivetrain issues, etc and I run at least 23psi all the time. I just hope GM lasts as long as the car with their financial problems and low stock value. They are really getting some good products ready, if they can just hang on. The VOLT may be a real saver for them.
Some people never reflashed their stock ECM.
The Volt will have a long road to profitability even if it is extremely successful. If I understand correctly, there are only 10k units planned for the first model years with up to 60k for the second model year. While it could be a technological success, it won't be a financial success for a while. Hopefully it does it's job pulling buyers into the showroom.
