I never said they direct flow to the wing, they direct flow up and over the front wheels and have very little overall effect on down force. I have a Honda CRX that I started to experiment with ground effect, it's got splitters, canards, diffuser, and a wing, as well as the hood was re engineered with a venture duct to evacuate air from under the hood, all this together made a dramatic affect on the car I can drive at 100mph through 35mph twisties up on the mountain, and it holds the road like its glued to it, the faster you drive the better it holds the road. On a wet road at 130 I can through a 20' wall of water behind the car, it just lifts it off the road and throws it up in a wall of water behind the car.
