I adjusted the run today and drove it for a time-check. The drive should take a little under 2-1/2 hours if we can maintain a moderate pace. There are five wineries in the loop, and I think we can limit each visit to about 1/2 hour. Adding an hour for lunch means that a 10:00 AM departure will allow a 4:00 PM return. If we spend longer at each winery we could end up returning closer to 5:00 PM. If things run too long, or if we drive more slowly than I have during the test runs, we can skip one of the wineries to make up some time.
For those returning early there are two options. One is to follow the full route, but not stop at the last wineries. This will work for a 3:00 PM return if we are running on time. The second is to leave the route at some point and take the highway back to th hotel. This is the easier but less scenic of the options, and will be required if we get behind at the beginning of the run.
Lunch will be at approximately 1:00 PM. I have three options to offer: Sonic, Panera Bakery and Cafe, and Red Robin. If you have a choice, post it here, we will go with the majority.
I think everyone is familiar with Sonic.
