on second thought - let me re-state that

but the 2009 Nationals is whitefangs responsibility and that of his committees. NOBODY else other than he and his committee members have any responsibities with respect to the Nationals "breaking even."

In principle I agree that 2009 is Colorado's responsibility.....BUT

you yourself know how hard it is to get a committment out of people for an event.
If you had to pre-pay 50 entries to PVGP and then 20 didn't show...that would bother you - wouldn't it?

For NEO SOS...T2TR etc we start lobbying for people to commit via a dinner pre-pay
about 4 months in advance and that is only $20.00 per dinner.

When you organize a NATIONAL event (depending on when and where) there are contracts that have to be signed..sometimes as far ahead as 2 years in advance.....and there are "non-performance" penalties attached to these contracts. These may be for hotels...food (caterers) or both. These have the potential to cost any event organizer THOUSANDS of dollars.

It was NEVER my intent to usurp any "authority" from the 2009 gang.
Rather it was to stir the pot and get a lot of people thinking about what a "committment" really means on the National level, and what goes on behind the scenes to make a NATIONAL event a success.

If you feel differently - then that is your opinion.
But I would hope- should we secure 2010 for Canton- that there would be people out there (not part of the committee) that would rally to the cause and stir the membership in a positive way. That was my intent- pure and simple

If my verbage offended anyone i apologize......my intent was only to bump a thread that had been dormant for about 40 days and get a few people thinking about taking that committment up one more level.
