Don't run regular, run at least 91. Your dealer is moronic by the way.
The turbo creates boost by compressing air via a shaft that is connected to a turbine that is turned by exhaust pressure. If you burn gas via throttle or engine load then the turbo will compress the intake air. When you let off the gas, a valve opens up and releases the intake pressure and your boost goes back to 0 PSI. PSI does not necessarily increase at the same rate as engine RPMS.
Here's a hint, for a good launch with the GXP use the throttle to build up some boost and then release the clutch. I usually rev it to about 3500 RPMS to get some boost building up so I can launch with out any lag.
You'll figure out how to drive a turbo car soon enough.
