Looks like a lot of good info about tires here and many of you have gone to a lot of trouble to research the info and post it...for that I say thanks. However, it seems a bit odd to me that there are those that have spent hundreds and even thousands to mod their cars to make them look better, go faster, or sound nice, yet are willing to skimp on probably the most important part on your cars...quality tires.
Although I (like many of you) appreciate a good bargain and certainly am like many consumers that want to get the most for my dollar, I value my safety a bit more than saving a few hundred dollars. Word of caution about some foreign tire companies (especially from some of the asian countries trying to enter the US market)...be careful about their standards of performance and quality in the manufacturing process. A blowout at higher speeds may not be worth the hundred bucks per tire you saved while you are recuperating in the hospital or while waiting for an insurance check to arrive to compensate you for your totaled Solstice. Good luck and I hope things work out okay for those that are running the lesser known brand tires.
