It matters WAYYY more than you know. I've installed dozens of CleanSweeps. GM uses this great frequency attenuation system to keep speakers from blowing. If you install a standard LOC, you will notice lots of bass and treble at low volumes, that seems to "fade" as you turn the volume up. The CleanSweep will correct this even on just the subsonic frequencies. If you have the Monsoon system, install it after the amp. If it's just the standard system, put it where the factory amp would go and just tap into the rear speakers for signal if you're lazy lol. JL Audio also makes the RBC knob for the CleanSweep to control a sub independently of the other channels.
And stay away from the Alpine unit, it's way too big an bulky and does half the stuff the CleanSweep does.
If you know someone that sells JL Audio, you can get that CleanSweep from them for less than $200 easily.
