At the speed limit it is 10 hours to the shop from Washington DC. It is about the same from DC to Toronto at the speed limit.

That is a pretty big drive.... hmmmmm.... I dont know if I could last that long by myself. Also I dont think I would want to take the risk of getting pulled over and car problems.

Yeap, it is off. We have a couple tricks up our sleeves we are working on for fueling, watch for that. Right now the car is running strong and smooth, we will get a dyno this week.
From everything I have read, the factory fuel pump is not capable of delivering enough fuel pressure to support higher boost pressures.
Curious to see how you guys pull that one off. Also why the decision to move the intake so close to the engine? I see you built a shroud, but there is no opening in the hood to bring in air at that point, so I see an increase in ambient intake temps as it's closer to the engine and behind the radiator. (just some observations)

We put the filter there as it is the same spot where we put it for the supercharger, and there is a good amount of air that comes up from around the front shrouds and feed the other intakes on the market in front of the radiator. With the shroud that we put around the filter that cold air is also fed into the filter on our setup. The IAT's are just a couple degrees above ambient, the same as other intakes that are totally in front of the radiator. Although with our set-up we do not have to worry about putting extra bends in the intake to fit the intake tube between the radiator and the hood, it also makes filter removal for cleaning easier and prevents water from getting into the intake when opening the hood, it works really well!

I made a mistake ... per Google Earth its 1393 miles from Toronto to Piedmont ... 15 hours and 3 minutes by their calculation ... a long drive .... it just depends on how badly you want your car to run right ... and if you had someone to share the driving ... it would be a lot easier.

Randy drove mine 1,000 miles - Muenster, Texas to Piedmont. Didn't seem like a bad drive to me! If I had to make the trip I would stop for the night in Jackson, Ms.
Yup, 1,400 miles would be - one really good looking companion & stopping for the night half way there!
I still think it's worth the trip - either driving the car or having it on a trailer!
Here's an option - DDM will be at the SE meet in August in Lexington, Kentucky - meet them there and hand over the keys!

I monitor ambient and AIT on my dashhawk. My filter is in the same place. I have seen temps as high as 50 degrees above ambient in stop and go traffic. Within 1/2 mile or so it is back down to anywhere from ambient to 2 degrees above.

I imagine any placement under the hood - at a complete stop - is going to be mighty hot & no way to get around it.
I believe the DDM placement is as far (or farther) away from the big heat source (the turbo) as the original CAI location was.
It is basically in the same place as my GMPP CAI was except facing in the other direction. I saw the same if not higher temps in traffic with the stock shroud.

I need to do a complete trip report! But as a quick summary:
Arrived at DDM & was met by Booger (the fierce guard dog). If you don't pet him pretty soon he barks at you!
Walked in the shop and met Ivy. Dave had a phone in his ear so Ivy gave me the tour! From the executive offices - to R&D and fabrication - to inventory and order processing - to the test and installation section.
Two 'Cool' Solstices in the house, mine and Randy's. Popped the hoods and both look similarly different (if you know what I mean).
In comes Randy - big grin on his face. Let's go for a ride he says! We take them out one at a time, mine first! Now let me say that mine has the boost turned down to about 8 lbs, so..... based on previous dyno runs, whp should be north of 240whp, especially with the larger DDM Intercooler. The Vector ECM is out and the car has the DDM stage II tune. The car ran good, no pings, no burps, no stutters, no codes!
Next we went out in Randy's stage II S/C. OH - MAMA! What a difference. Now the stage II S/C only dyno's at around 235whp so the horsepower is about the same! The difference is the immediate power with the S/C vs waiting for the turbo to spool up on mine. Now I could have revved mine to 4k and launched it, but Randy didn't do his.
Now I understand how the stage II S/C guys keep talking about running 0 to 60 in 4.6 or 4.7. I'm thinking a stage II turbo (or I or whatever you want to call it) would be hard pressed to break under 5.0. So for the street (red light to red light) IMO - the S/C rules. I believe the S/C would beat mine in the 1/8th mile also. Now I gotta believe the turbo would come alive and do well in the 1/4.
In Randy's car, from zero, first you smell tire rubber, then you smell clutch, then it hooks up and it goes like a rocket! He's installing a Spec stage II+ this week - so all you stage II owners, get your wallets out - it's clutch time!
After randy and I finished playing we went back to the shop and the shop closed at 6pm (rather than the midnight it normally does) so I could have the pleasure of taking them out to dinner.
So here we are in beautiful downtown Greenville (and it really is), getting ready to take a walk to the restaurant.
Here we are, post dinner at a restaurant that, according to the waiter, was selected by Wine Spectator as having the fourth best wine selection & cellar in the country. That's what he said! We passed on the $1,600 bottle of Château St. Michelle - but we did select a 1998 Alexander Valley Cabernet with a little tannin kick to it. We sniffed, we swirled, we sipped then requested dacanting - as if we knew what we were doing.
The one on the left is the brains of the bunch!
Food was good - wine was good - company was the best! We ended the night around 11pm. Dave and I met at 9am this morning (Dave brought the Starbucks - grandes - caramel macchiato for him mocha for me). We talked about my car, what's been done, what's going to be done - great stuff! Around 9:30 I bailed out and headed for the airport.
Thank you Ivy, Dave & Randy - for the great hospitality!
