Yes, it is. The more I work with the 2.0T engine, the more I like it.

Hello,

I'm not really familiar with the WERKSracing "50 Trim" Dual Ball Bearing turbocharger.

How does this turbo compare to a GT30R or GT35R?

thanks much!

Our 50 trim is right in between the GT30R and the GT35R. It will support up to 465hp and has a good quick spool.

Depends on what GT30R, there are several ones. The GT3076R, the most commonly used external, flows 52lbs/min. about 4-5 lbs/min more than a TO4E based 50trim.

A gt3071R (internal or external) flows 47lbs/min or same as the 50 trim.

So the size would go GT3071R, 50Trim,GT3076R,GT3582R, conventionally speaking. 475hp,475hp,525hp,600hp.

Flow wise yes they do show the same. I simply rate them by what PTE/Garrett shows in HP ratings which is 450hp for the 3071R.

We are also in the process of adding a water/meth injection to the car and we should have some even better numbers for you all soon!

Here is a quick breakdown on the costs involved with a typical WERKS 2.0 Tturbo system -

460hp 2.0T turbo kit with high flow cat = $3050.00
TIAL race BOV = $239.99
AEM tru boost controller = $289.99
Dyno tuning = $500.00
Installation labor - $900.00

Total = $4979.98, not to bad I would say!
A hell of a price given what I dished out for my MR2 Turbo upgrades a year or so ago for less RWHP. I paid twice that.

I know how you feel in working with the MR2s. I worked on a few of those a while back and lets just say they are finicky to deal with. Fun cars though when all is said and done.

Forgive my ignorance, but why are the torque numbers so different when compared to other upgrade options?

Just about every other kit, and upgraded stock options show tq numbers to be either marginally or substantially higher than HP.

I'm VERY interested in purchasing this kit once things settle down and I finish my move, I'm just curious about it.

Due to the big turbo your torque numbers are not going to be higher then HP because of the size of the turbo whics makes more power with high boost levels and unlike other kits out there the turbo we use is double the size of the stock turbo. While most of the other kits out there are using smaller frame turbos which allow faster spool and show's more torque than HP.

After looking over the dyno sheets, thats what I figured. However, I am far from confident in my knowledge on the technical workings of turbos, so I'd rather pass any issues of uncertainty off to the experts. Thanks.

The turbo looks great! Not to hijack your thread...What you said above is definitely true for some, but it couldn't be anywhere near the cost of one of the V8 conversions...and might even put up comparable numbers? And, I haven't seen anything else like that from other shops...you would be first to market with it. I'm just pondering...

Either way keep up the good work, you guys put out a lot of great stuff for Kappas!

Thanks for the heads up and the kind words!
