GM Connection

Can NASSOA use our GM recognition and ties to lobby GM on things like replacing the plastic retainers on the exterior door handles with metal? That would be a great service to the user community!

You have to realize that the Sol and Sky are parts bin cars, made up of many already existing parts from other GM vehicles.

This saves money. Making or redesigning parts costs money.

If it costs $10 to use metal instead of plastic and you make a million parts a year, do the math.
If it costs $40 or $50 to repair 10,000 defective units a year, what would be your choice?

These figures are not based on any actual facts, but I think you get the idea.

Plus you get the latter back because they keep breaking after the warranty expires. Its a win win senario.

I think I understand the economics.

I was asking if this is the kind of thing NASSOA can pursue on behalf of the owner community.
