2. Compatibility of the PPC Handheld with other modifications
While the official line from BSR is that they do not recommend any modifications with the PPC, one has to first understand why they have this position. It is impossible for BSR to certify that the product will provide quality results regardless of the equipment combinations randomly attempted by users of their product. They cannot in any way police the literally hundreds (if not thousands!) of possible combos.
Hahn RaceCraft has had the privilege to work much more closely with PPC and mods than even BSR has. Additionally, the more industrious among our customers have striven to better understand just how far they can go with PPC, and they've been successful! Basic airflow mods are compatible, such as well-designed intakes (not including those of a smaller-than-stock 2.75" diameter!) and exhausts. We'll gladly counsel with any of our PPC customers as to what works. Contact us!
Can the PPC be assigned to another car? No, it is married to the VIN. This is a characteristic of all handheld tuners, whether from BSR, Diablo, SCT or others. The reason is easy to understand....if not for this exclusive assignment to one car, once a certain number of tuners was in the field, sales would dry up as the units are transferred from car to car to car indefinitely. It seems harsh, but it's necessary for the business model to be viable.
As a point of comparison, one must consider...buying a tune from another provider is also for that car only, and not transferable to other cars. The only exception is the purchase of specific licensing from certain software providers that allow unlimited vehicles to be flashed for a one time charge...but only for a specific model and year. These licenses also are not inexpensive, and require technical knowledge of the software to implement...not really comparable to PPC.

3. The emergence (or lack thereof) of a Stage II BSR tune version
We've all waited for, and wanted, the Stage II version. BSR sought one mightily early in 2008, but was unimpressed with the results. They found that the gains available with the stock turbo were slight at best, and not really representative of the power increase that would justify the Stage II that the more enthusiastic among us desired. We conferred with BSR and also with our GM engineering contacts at that time, and all concurred that the ability to go much further than Stage I was not evident with the stock turbocharger in place. Yes, one can cite this tuner and that tuner that has achieved 'more', and I will not disparage their results. I will speak for our own results, as they are correlated by BSR and GM, and I can say that the current Stage I PPC Tune pushes the stock turbo as hard as we are comfortable with in terms of shaft speed. We predicate OEM-style durability above satisfying the small part of our clientele willing to 'roll the dice'. As such, we aren't comfortable with pushing the stock turbo harder than the manufacturer's standard.
BSR has offered to revisit this application to see if they can achieve more, and I would offer that if you are interested in furthering this activity, that you make your voice known. The more encouragement they receive, the better!

Can you sell the BSR tune with handheld PPC if you swap ECMs and have the same model year vehicle?
Can you sell the BSR tune with handheld PPC if you swap ECMs and have the same model year vehicle?
Like all handheld tuners, the PPC is married to the VIN number of the vehicle. All PCM's for a particular vehicle (even spares) are encoded with that vehicle's VIN. So, no...even with a PCM swap, the PPC remains married to the car.

BSR is considering some alternatives, but they will be either with BSR product, or BSR partner product (such as Hahn RaceCraft). We'll let you good folks know if anything comes of it!
We are also working with a variety of turbo upgrades, and the BSR PPC Tuner is part of the evaluation process.

Just a note that someone on the Sky forum started with a BSR tune, got the GM tune, then uploaded it to BSR who in turn worked it over and made it available back to him. He installed the new BSR tune and is pushing 25 psi and thats close to sea level (SF Bay Area). I think he has some other mods like IC and exhaust too. I believe Bill is checking into the updated tune from BSR. If this holds true, the GM/BSR tune combination is going to be a new standard.

I would be interested in this if it becomes available. Please keep us posted.
