I guessed on your blog.
It looks like it could be a glove box organizer but I am not sure on the size.
Or a trunk organizer that fits on each side of the hump.

Well it looks rather large. And it appears to have a velcro strap or some type of restraint strap attached to it. It also appears to have some sort of skirt so as to cover something below it when installed and has an abundant amount of storage space. The last thing I notice is the mesh top so what ever you put in there would be easy to see for reading purpose or easy access.
Based on the shape it is extremely hard for me to guess it's exact location of installation. My best guess would be that it is to be located in the interior cabin of the car. And maybe it is an overlay to the center console for easy interior storage since we are so limited already and the products currently out there are pretty poor in what they offer.
Well that is my guess now you have me curious so I can't wait for the unavailing.

I think it's a set of stop-sticks.

I voted for a garment bag. Seemed like the most useful choice.

Storage that hangs over the waterfall inside the car! If not--I like the stop sticks idea!

My guess would be that it is an interior storage bag that velcros on top of the windshield where the sun visors are. Kinda like those cd holders that people put up there, but this one is one big piece that velcros on both sun visors giving you a lot of space to place stuff right above your head

I say a trunk storage bag that hangs from right under the lid springs.
