i feel that a pouch like this just is a hassle b/c if you park outside at night or somewhere uncommon, your car is labeled as THE car for thieves.....

i'd rather not keep anything in the car cabin period to reduce the chance of a broken window or a cut convertible top

These sit almost on the ground inside the car so they arent very visable from outside the glass. My valuables typically come out of my pockets into the pouches for the drive then go right back in them. But I have had my car broken into before so be careful not to have valuables in plain site.

Here's my loadout for club runs.

Left to right:

1st compartment: Glasses case / cellphone
2nd compartment: smokes/FRS radio/spare batteries
3rd compartment: Camera/Wallet/
4th compartment: blistex/advil/lighter
Zipper pocket: change

I've gotten several compliments from Valets about how nice it is (obviously without the valuables in it). My only complaint is that I had to modify mine to fit around the power seat control.

What about a version with a flap on it? It would basically make any items invisible and the pouch would be even more difficult to see from the outside.

You touch on a point, though in reality any car one could have the same thoughts.
1 Lock a car up, any car ithey want to get in they willie break a window, crow bar the door etc.

I dont have this item but i did buy the center bags(i love them) same issue its a din and dash item. its easy to just toss behind the seat or pop it in the trunk. You can wear it as well like a fanny pack/purse as well. My Sol has a pouch on the front seats stock both sides is this an 08 gxp thing. i am not sure.

2 Dont lock the car anf "let em in".

I have read here where others park "way in the back" for fear of door dents. But this will put the car in right place for those that would, too break in as well.

I park up front and wait for one of those 1st stalls, the car is so short that the single car next to is only going to hit the rear rubber area if at all. I dont mind driving around the parking lot to wait for one of these better spots( hey any excuse to drive this little gem, im out the door, hun you out of ice? need a pack of gum, hey you need tampons! Im out the door and down the road.

Flap is a great idea, keep things out of site is great idea. Embroidered flap is even a better idea. If you have one with a light flap that is magnetic that would be accessible with one hand while driving, another words, velcro flap wouldn't work. I'd buy one then

Two flaps would be great also with the center being reserved for drinking bottles.

Throw other things in the pockets from time to time--just depends.

As to theft, I leave my GXP open when shopping at the local Costco and many other times for shorter shopping stops but only leave the Chap Stick and note pad--do not leave anything valuable.

Do not buy into the story of inviting theft. Its a convertible so you do not leave anything in sight top up or top down you do not want stolen. If someone wants to break in they will try to steal my head unit but you can not spend too much time worrying about these things--that is why we have insurance.

Great accessory and have been happy with the purchase from day one.

A cool Sobe cap I got once that says 20oz to Freedom. Cracked me up!

As for the theft thing... well, it's really hard to see the pouch is even there, even when you KNOW it's there. Besides, if someone is going to break into a car, they're going to do it. I can tell you for sure, most kids that break into cars just do it without even looking to see what's inside.

The way I see it is, if someone is going to break into my car, it's going to happen regardless if I have something that is this convenient in my car or not. Might as well have the convenience and not stress out about something I can't control. This comes from someone that has to park his car on the street every night too, so that should count for something.
