"I was reading in the new Motor Trend that in '10 they are cranking up the boost and giving the Solstice a new fuel rail with some bigger injectors bringing in about 300rwhp.
I wonder if the 'Balts will get the same treatment?"
Anyone know about this???

The only thing that I *KNOW* that is coming that will offer that many HPs is the Stage II that GMPP will be offering later this summer (per what was said by GM officials at MECCA II)
Cost for the Stage II will be around $1k and boost the HP to near 310 IIRC.
As usually .... IMO Motor Trend is a bit "off the mark"

Hey Momsol,
Could you please explain your specific info about Stage II and where it comes from? It sure would be nice to have some solid dates or info, please share!
Oh yeah, Motor Trend is full of crap.

There was much discussion from GM personnel at the Plant Tour in May, it was even part of their presentation to Kappa Owners prior to our tours - no *specific date* was given but they alluded to 'summer release' which could mean anytime up to September. They did say it would be around $1k IIRC.
Several threads here on this very discussion ....
Trust me ..... I don't give info out that does not have some "substance"

Stage II is in the 295 HP range with 310 lbs-ft of torque and will be under $1k.
I will once again tip one to the dead engine variant we will never see.
Motor Trend article is based off of information that is no longer valid. None of the LNF engines will ever reach the 300 HP power level in stock form from GM.

OK.. I'm going to tip my hat here, and MomsSol and Brentil don't get upset with me, ok?
This kit is not coming this year. I repeat, this kit is not coming this year.
Now.. I'd ask MomsSol and Brentil to go back to their contacts and confirm or deny, but I spoke with some test engineers, and development engineers on this very project in the past few weeks and was told that funding was cut after the May MECCA tour. Testing has not been completed, and is not scheduled for the 3rd quarter.
I have this on very reliable sources, direct from GM employees. Could I be wrong, yes... but I've been asking for this kit like crazy and certainly don't intend to mislead anyone. In fact, I'd love to eat crow and be proven wrong when this is released... but I don't see it happening this summer (or in 2008) now at this point.
And, the kit is two upgraded sensors (anyone care to guess which two.. anyone following the performances threads should have figured it out by now), and a new tune. It does not involve new injectors.. they are not a limiting point for power in the stock setup.
I have that on authority from GM employees and Setup racers who used the kit. Problem is the tune wasn't perfect back in October (when Setup was filmed), and it apparently hasn't been worked on since either.
Oh.. and there are two other GM tunes that I am aware of (or more correctly BOSCH tunes as they did all of the development work), one in the 350 hp range, and another which is slight over 400 hp. Don't expect either of them to EVER be publicly available though.
And.. to add insult to injury... I recently learned that the BOSCH engineer who did the tune has left BOSCH and signed a non-compete clause to not do development on this or other projects they were involved with. Not sure who did the tune for the Cobalt / HHR though.. still working on tracking that information down.
