Regardless of the voiding of contracts, there will be two MAJOR paradigms that will have to change. GM's culture and UAW's culture. With all respect for the union folks on this forum, Gettlefinger should be gone. He is as much of what is wrong with the American auto industry as the industry itself is.

If Ron's retiring, I hope our Administration can tap his services to help us negotiate favorable world wide trade agreements!

I miss having so many conveniently located GM dealerships around the country. I gave up on German cars because getting service was always a such a pain, especially when traveling.

NOT soon enough. Did you see that guy lying his teeth out during the hearings on Capitol Hill? What a crook.

she prolly has a similar story bout you ! more amazing in your younger days too !!!

this guy is funny
it has nothing to do with GM - ain't a GM product

and nobody takes work to a dealership ! unless its warranty

reality check - (((hello ))) dealerships charge the highest prices for everything

you rule out the raggety gas station shop - cuz what - lil & old ? goober works there ?
this is not a hi tech operation ....... its 12 bolts...... and the big fancy facility ( dealership ) is too expensive ??
all i'd worry about is the lift - either place has the same odds of crunchin the QPs

since you want cheap - do it yourself or quitchabitchin
12 bolts - ramps are cheap @ wallyworld

you really do need to know an honest independent mechanic -everyone does i'm sure there is one local who would appreciate the work and this easy job

but his heart is not going to go out to you
if you pull in in your " $70,000 roadster" with your silly mod ( he'll think so ).... and cry about dealership gougers...hr minimum charge..... the whole time you watch him like a hawk and nag about proper lifting

good luck sugabritches

I paid $60.00 to have the Backbone put on my Sols. This was done by a mechanic in my area who owns a small shop. The mechanic has worked on our vehicles for a few years. One hour labor to do a job that took him 30 minutes. Well worth it I'd say.

Love the Backbone!

My dealer will install aftermarket parts, but the 1 hour minimum is standard. I was lucky enough to find a Buick, GMC, Pontiac dealer that has a bunch of hot rodders in the service department who love working on Solstices. The day I got my stage 2 kit installed they told me to come back anytime for anything because most of the time they're stuck changing tires on Grandpa's LeSabre and can't stand it.
