Frame rail is torqued bad, look how the passenger foot well is bent up.
Glad you're ok, thanks for your support, nice meeting you at the Nationals. I enjoy the wheels you assisted me in getting.

Sorry about your loss. I have driven in winter weather from Montana ,Illinois, Upstate New York,Western North Carolina and all places in between. It doesn't matter what kind of tires you use, when you hit ice you have a problem.
Hi Miles, say it ain't so! Sorry to hear that you no longer have the Z0K. It had to be a killer in Charlotte without the A/C. Let us know how the RX8 goes.

I see that now. If the frame took that, then I wonder how the suspension atachments held up? The repair cost of course is parts and more so labor compared to value of the vehicle.
A price cannot be put on drivers and passengers, the design continues to let us walk away.

The rail was soooo tweaked the passenger floor was buckled from the firewall to the trunk. However, the damage did not add up to more than the value of the car, only about $12,000. The problem was that GM currently does not have a replacement frame rail for the Solstice. Since no replacement part exists, its a total loss because it can not be repaired. I'm kinda glad that it was total loss because no matter how well it was repaired it would never be as torsionally stiff as it was before the accident, which makes a huge difference in autox.

I remember getting down on the pavement in the RR parking lot to take pictures of that car! What a shame. "For the sake of a nail..." Glad you are OK and flash your "8"s lights if you see a Sol. Good luck.

Thanks for the support and kind words.
Hey Miles...
I broke the news to some of the guys at the Tire Rack when I picked up my SSR's yesterday. They were telling me all about "this guy who used to work here with a ZOK"... Most agreed you should have picked up a GXP and not got the RX8!
Glad you are OK though, and hope to see ya at the Autox sometime this year. Grissom or Nationals in your future?
Damn, I feel lucky. I slid into a culvert from icy roads this winter and hit a cement culvert in a very similar fashion to what you described.
Got away with just a cracked front panel and left front foglamp. No real damage and airbags didn't deploy, thank God. Definitely need different tires than the stock.
Are those Bridgestone Portenza 960 AS tires run flats? Anyone put runflats on their Sol?
