Anyone Else Think Duel Exhaust Should be Optional on The Base Solstice?
I can see why GM wants to make two Solstices Base and GXP but why can't the dual exhaust be an option on the base model? I think I'll try to buy the parts from Pontiac and have it installed.

Would the dual exhaust be purely cosmetic? Cant imagine it making much difference from a performance point of view on a non-turboed vehicle. The larger outlet on a turbo'd system is 'tuned' to match the amount of air being drawn into the engine under pressure.
Depending on the design, and the waste gas "robbing" capabilities of the system - it may actually perform worse??

Yes, the duals are pure cosmetics in the NA car, you could also have a single pipe for a Center exhaust for both cars, with different tune mufflers.

In fact with duals on a N/A you have a couple choices. You can buy an aftermarket dual outlet muffler and aftermarket valence (or wait 'til teh GXP part is available) or you can just stick a fake pipe on the left, with zero air flow, That is teh cheapest route, cost of custom valence (bot or modded) plus $20 pipe an dhanger, It is for looks, so make it the look you want.
On the plus side of doing a mod, if you add a CAI to get the most benefit from it you are supposed to also consider a free-flow exhaust from the behind the catalytic converter to the tailpipe(s) hence the name cat-back. Dual outlet freeflow then just makes sense. Personally I don't care a bit for the center mounts but that's just me.

I said from Day 1, that dual exhaust should have been standard equipment on a sports car like Solstice. Even if it's for just the good looks, GM Engineering fell short in this area. Another thing.....I think the exhaust pipe is too large. Smaller exhaust pipes look better > only my opinion....I'm from the old GTO era!!!!
