This is so hard for me to begin. I just don't know where or how to start.
It has been a long day.
Thanks to those who in the know have wished me and BABY well and encouraged me to start this thread.
My wife who is BABY's Mom and primary driver insisted I go to the Doctor today.
The two lowest ribs on the right rib cage are broken clean through from the second most violent impact. Otherwise, I lived thanks to BABY.
Here are images I am at liberty to share:
She did the "Mambo" up this 5 foot high embankment
And this is waiting for the flatbed
We visited her this evening and it appears her hood has been raised and closed.
Sorry to hear about your cracked ribs but at least you're OK and alive. This is only a car although it pains us all. Hope you have a speedy recovery. Give us details on the accident if you can.

Considering the night time pain med is begining to take effect,
there is not much I should attempt to post for now.
One picture I took though is a key revelation in the fault tree.
Accident Investigation may not be my current area of professional practice but
the experience is there along with a semester long course called
Product Safety and Injury Control.
"Unsafe at Any Speed" is around here somewhere.
I would like the thread to develop a technical aspect in the interest of the brand, safety, education and all around owner enhancement.
I would like the thread to develop a technical aspect in the interest of the brand, safety, education and all around owner enhancement.
If your desire is for the above to happen with this thread then we need just a "little" more information. Something like road conditions, hardtop vs. gravel, speed, time of day, other animal/vegetable/mineral involved, what hit you on the right side that broke ribs? And just as important, what you think we could do to avoid the same fate?
Your comment about "Unsafe at any speed", are you talking about the car, the road, or the driver? What is the basis for that comparison?
Just some things for you to comment on when you can't sleep with the sore ribs.
BTW, glad to see that there was no more apparent damage to you or the car, it could have been much worse.

Sorry you got hurt. Hope you feel better soon. I think any accident that you can walk away from relatively unscathed is a sign of a vehicle's inherent safety.

George, I enjoyed our conversation the other night. Hearing about your injuries and looking at Baby, I'd say you got the worst of it. As you said, the question is whether Baby's frame is damaged, and looking at the photo, I think her damage is pretty much just on the surface. This is from a person with several incidents of experience!
Just replace some parts and panels, and Baby will be ready to go. You, on the other hand, have to take it easy and let those parts repair themselves, with competent medical assistance. I wish you a speedy recovery, my friend.
