So I was standing in the garage where a friend is doing some work on my coupe, including sticking a new rear exhaust system on (a drone removal exercise - if anyone in Vancouver needs a killer Solo rear system, but only for convertibles, contact me) and a back up alert.
I was planning on picking up my wife in a half hour or so, and my cell phone rang in my pocket. I took it out and hit answer, but no voice. Hit it again, and all of a sudden the voice of said wife is coming out of the Solstice, hung a few feet up on a hoist, with the ignition turned off. Had to run over to the car and sort of shout into the open driver's window to carry on a short conversation with her. Very strange.
Learned a couple of things.
1 -If you are within range of the car, it seems that the car answers your cell phone calls even if it is turned off just sitting there.
2 - people look at you strangely when you are carrying on a shouted conversation with your car!

Very strange. Mine only works if I am in the car, the key is on or has been turned on previously, then the key can be off & removed, but will "break" the link if I open the car door to exit, unless I am on an existing call (then it switches over to the hand held cell phone).

Are you sure the radio wasn't in retained acc power mode and that's why the call went that route?
Once you open the door thr call should have gone back to your phone speaker.
Or you just have an enhanced crazy person Bluetooth mode!
I'll bet I know what was going on - we'd tested the back up alert, and then reached in and turned off the ignition without opening the door - but probably left it in aux position so the Bluetooth was still active.
I'll tell you, it was sure a surprise hearing the old girls voice coming out of the car telling me she couldn't hear me.....
