It was bound to happen... Rain+top down

Actualy it's a pretty good story.

My girlfriend is temporairly my personal assitant until the school year stars and she goes back to teaching. Anyways we laft in her car to go home and grab some lunch. Leaving my car at work with the top down.

Here is the sucky part....

Our apartment got broken into along with 3 others in the building. Stole both our laptops but nothing else. But the cat got scared or something and hid. I was worried she got out and was lost. Ran all over the area trying to find her. But she turned up thankfully.

So the cops and dectectives were there and didn't let us leave. Suddenly a downpour came in quickly. My car was at work all locked up with the rain pouring and got completely drenched. I did finaly get ahold of someone at work and they threw a tarp on it. But yeah it got completely soaked.

I have yet to own a convertible without leaving it open in the rain at least once.

hot dam I think I found the thief. I'm excited and want to send this to the Detective!!!

Found this ad posted tonight on craigslist. Incedetialy the person stole 5 laptops from our building. They hit 3 buildings in the last 2 days. They stole credit cards yesterday and used them at a Costco and used there friends Photo ID costco card to pay for there stuff. If they don't get busted I would be surprised.

Well, if the detectives working on the case are worth anything, he'll get busted!

Sorry that this happened to you though...

I was driving up to the mall yesterday and i could see that it was a little dark to the east but I was driving n/nw so i didnt think it was an issue. so i come up over this hill and I can see a wall of rain. there were no sprinkles or anything...no rain and then rain! i literally could have stoped 6" before the rain. Of course im in a busy road and no where to stop and for about 1 mile im driving with the top down and its coming down pretty good. rain hurts going 50 mph! finally i pull over and put the top up. im soaked as well as the inside of my car I get back on the road and in no less then 3 blocks the rain stops and the sun is shining again. moral of the story....always have a towel in the car because you never know when its going to rain.

I've heard that some insurance companies will total a car out for this if the rain is extensive. Has anybody ever heard similar stories?

Moral of the story should be don't stop, just roll up the windows.
This guy drove a long way and when we stopped for lunch he was totally dry.

I know it's not a solstice but when I test drove the Mini they gave me a brochure that recommended just speeding up instead of putting up the top, so the raindrops that would land on you just hits the windshield. It was written as a joke but apparently it actually works!

I can attest that it does work. Last year I was caught in a Florida storm ON A BRIDGE that I had never been on before. Do a search for it and get a good laugh. And the rain was coming down SO HARD it stung. But I forgot I had windows that go up, too.

Obviously this person is a rocket scientist!! This post is a great tribute to our education system. The only good news is that someone this stupid is sure to be caught quite easily.

This reminds me of the article in Chicago years ago about the moron who stole a guys wallet and used the Bears tickets he found inside! Police picked him up at the game. DUH

If he was smart he would sell them on ebay one at a time so it might not be so obvious!
