Same here...been waiting, but so far so good.

Get this...and I don't know how I get by...

I'm taking my car in for the recall yesterday. I hadn't driven it in probably a week or so. So I accelerate rather quickly going out of town...not really on it, but not too slow either. I look down and I'm up to 65 fairly quick until I have to turn on another road before I jump on the interstate. Sure enough...there is a cop (white unmarked car) trying to catch people as they are coming off the interstate. I see him a little bit after I get up to 65, but before I would have to slow down to make the turn. I kinda let off the gas thinking it can't really be a cop as he's stopped in an odd place. I'm kinda thinking he's waiting for someone. But it was and the guy had to have clocked me speeding in the 55. I turn onto the road and of course I have no front plate. I'm thinking I'm done this time for sure...speeding, no front plate. Somehow...he doesn't go after me! How I don't get pulled over...I have no idea! But I keep knocking on wood just in case!!!

Boy I hope my day doesn't come.

Sorry to hear that Gary. I remember how good your PT looked. It would not look as good with the front plate.

In another life I was with a county superior court for a while doing database development. We used to laugh about all the fancy new toys that kept coming on pallet after pallet, as it was like we had a bottomless budget. The reality was that we did - all technology for the court system was bought with money raked in from traffic violations in the county, and this being the transport nexus, well, that was/is a bottomless pit. It was truly obscene, and I haven't worked government since, never want to again.

Anyway, it's a discretionary thing for the officer making the stop. Some will hit you for having a the high filament in a combo rear position/brake light burned out and even make you have the car inspected after replacement. Others will drive on past when you're missing a headlight, brake light, and have plastic bags over the windows. Last time I counted cars in the parking lot at the office, about 20% were missing a front plate. Our controller, a blonde, has the whole thing planned out just in case - "but officer, I thought it was just a spare"

Only problem with the hide a way bracket is if it is folded and hidden when the cop pulls you over you can still get a ticket.

Thats a good point about the hide a way, sounds like a great idea, but if the cop can't see it, what does it matter if you have it on but hidden out of sight? from that point it makes no sense. here is my plan..............
I will make up a reciept (fake) of a sales order for a bracket. if stopped I will tell the officer I just ordered the front bracket and show him the sales order. if he persists and gives the ticket anyway, I will go to court. Before hand I will take pic of the plate on the car (put on with tie wires) show the pic to the judge, remove the plate. done
repeat process as needed................gary

seems all you would need would be a single piston electric actuator to push the plate out at the flick of a switch. twas a plan i was cooking when i first realized i wouldn't be running a plate but two years later and not even a single worry from a passing cop and it's no longer a high prio to build.

good luck out there, just tell them that you forgot to put it back up.

Oops! Seems like my comment addressed in a follow on link to link above!

Should have read linked item first! Oh , well. At least I won't get called for having a failing memory.... just a faulty wiring kob in the cranial region.

I got rid of the stock front plate bracket and designed an offset plate mount which looks great and no more tickets.
I had (50) more made and have listed on EBAY if anyone else is interested. You can see it in my profile picture. It bolts-on with no holes to drill in car.

It solved my problem with state police.
