Convertible Top Leaking / Rear Window NEED HELP!!!
Hey guys,
Thanks for any advice or help you guys can give me. The rear-window in my convertible top de-laminated from the top. There is no tearing, but the glass just isn't sealed anymore. I had made a post about this earlier and someone said I should be able to take it to any glass shop and they should easily be able to fix it.
Well, I called a dealer, and two convertible top shops and they said that the Solstice is "special", and "like the Corvette", when this happens, the only option I have is to completely replace the entire top (with which they quoted me $1,700 bucks).
Has ANYONE here had any success re-gluing the convertible top on a Solstice? I'm out of warranty at 24,800 miles...
Thanks,

You can pickup a convertible top on ebay for like 500-800 or call one of the solstice racing teams and get one from there cars for like 500-800 I believe.
FWIW, my top had the same problem, and it was reglued in October of 2006 under warranty. It has not come loose again.
Hi Dave,
Do you happen to know, for a fact, that they did re-glue your convertible top, VS actually replace it? My dealership is telling me that when this happens our tops are unrepairable.
Thanks...

I got the car back the same day, and actually saw it while the glue was setting and the canvas was clamped to the glass while the top was up.
The repair order (I just looked it up) refers to #06-08-57-002B which is a TSB. I think it was revised and reissued as 06-08-57-002C in July 2008.
does any one know if that TSB covered 2007 models? My dealership is saying they won't fix it under my extended warranty and that I'm just SOL (they won't even offer to fix it for a fee).

Yes the TSB covers all years of Solstice-Sky-OpelGT production.

Wow, do you actually work for GM?
My experience (before 2008) with GM has mostly been pretty good. But I certainly never expected GM to have representatives out on the various car forums. I'm pretty impressed at that.
EDIT: Sorry, I don't own half those cars anymore in my signature, I should have changed it. Still have the Fiero and the VW Bus though.
