engine surge

Is it normal for the engine RPM's to rise about 500 revs when the clutch is depressed to the floor (foot off the accelerator)?
This is what happens in my "new" '06 Solstice when I am shifting thru the gears. I find my self waiting for the revs to drop back down before shifting into the next gear. no fun!

This is a new message concerning this situ., as I am new to the forum and don't yet know how to continue discussion of a "thread".
