I live in the "lovely" state of Virginia that requires a front license plate.
I've been driving my sol daily since purchased in July 2007 (9 months)
sans front license plate.
On my way to work early Monday morning and I see my local Hanover sheriff's
department parked on the right side of the road. (I had seen him there daily the
week before but on the other side of the road). I was stopped at a red light....
I know he got a good look at the front of the car and I saw him pull in behind me.
The light changes green and I make my left hand turn. After the turn, he turns on
his "flashing" lights, so I made a right hand turn at the next light and than turn right
into a business parking lot. The poor guy in front of me at the 2nd light was all panicy.
He turned right at the light and he couldn't decide to turn left, right or go straight.
I put my car in park......the deputy walks up to the car......
The first thing he says.......That's a gorgeous car, license and registration please.
I hand him my license and registration, he takes a quick look, hands them back &
His next question.....GREAT looking car, but Miss, where's your front license plate?
My reply......behind my seat.
His response....well here in the Virginia the front license plate needs to be
mounted on the front of the car not be inside the front of the car.
My reply.....Oh, Okay, I'll contact the dealer as it takes a "special" bracket for this car.
His respone......Okay, by the way that's a beautiful looking car and have a nice day
As soon as I got to work, I called my hubby and told him what happened.
He laughed

(alot) and said well I guess you're ready to put your license plate
bracket on now. I had purchased "Davies hide-away bracket" that was designed
for the corvette back in August 2007 but wasn't ready to put a front license on yet.
I'm glad I went the way of the "hide-away" bracket. Easy to install (for GXP),
cut a mouse pad to fit the bracket brace and backplate, adhered with automotive
weather gasket goo to the bracket and backplate for the areas that touch the car.
Rubber side (bottom of the mouse pad) to the metal and foamy/cushy side (top of
the mouse pad) where it touch the car. Made the necessary adjustment for the fitting
of the bracket, drilled the starter holes and screwed it to the car.
About 30 minutes tops....including the time to cut and fit mouse pad.
I still would rather not have a front license plate, but since I've already gotten a warning.
I chose to not risk getting a ticket.
I now have the "Hide-Away" front license plate bracket installed.
No pics, but there are other threads with pics of others with the bracket installed.
