I just had a flow master 40 put on the car, it sounds so sweet from idle all the way up. A very deep growl that sounds like a older muscle car.
I wanted to make sure it did not sound like a ricer and had my son drive it, my wife and others. They all fell in love with the sound. Now the best part it only cost me $150 dollars.
I went down to the favorite exhaust builder and he custom made the hangers for her welded the whole system and even used the single out pipe to make her look stock. Now when I put my foot into it she growls like the Euro cars do.
I even had a nice looking lady walk by and give comments! Nice.
Anyway there are less expensive ways to make her sound better. Even if you do not like it you could go back to what you had with out much expense.
That "burble, burble" happens even on a stock solstice. Its the design of the exhaust. I have done nothing to my solstice and I can hear the burble when I let off the gas. Does it get loader, when you put in a CAI?

Louder and deeper with the Flowmaster .... sorry but I never noticed it when my car was stock!
I had the Flowmaster switched from my '06 onto my '07 but did not get the CAI on for a couple of weeks .... the *nice* "burble" was missing and at first I thought they had messed up my exhaust .. but, once I installed my CAI the deep throated 'burble' was back!

This is my experience as well. Flowmaster rocks. You can spend more, but
your not getting more IMHO.
Solos mufflers are even better as they are not just off the shelf mufflers primarily made for V8 engine cars. Solos are designed specifically for the Sol 2.4 and sound like it. I run a flat panel K&N in the stock airbox with a custom (Thanks Jeff) Storm muffler exhaust set-up and I get all the burble that I can stand and I still got $365 bucks in my pocket.
I was going to go side pipes but no matter what I tried I could not get the ground clearance that I needed, so I was in search of another choice. I went to the exhaust place and talked with them for an hour before we settled on the flow master 40, at first I thought damn this is deep and the more I drove it the better it sounded. Now I would not go back to the old exhaust. I had my son drive it while I listened and damn that sounds nice. It sounds meaty with out being a pain.
I had a ricer come up on me today at a stop light and rev'ed his tin can at me and I just stomped on it and he woke up! and looked over and asked if it was a V8 I just laughed and waved him off and then punched it out of the light and made that wonderful sound of the flow master come to life.
What I like most about it, is when you down shift I do not get the burble sound it is just solid wall to wall sound of sweet thunder.

Anyway, I am in love again!
Thanks for looking,

Better watch those referals to punching it in public. The forum politzia will be on you like flies on s**t. Take it from someone who knows. The 40 is a good muffler but tends to drone a little on the freeway at around 3000 rpm, but I'm glad you like it, thats all that counts.
I have a FlowMaster 80 on my "stock" '07 stick GXP. It has a somewhat deeper rumble than a FlowMaster 40. Not as loud as the same muffler on a 2.4....but burbles nicely at each shift and backs off quite noticably at each downshift. I notice no inside the cabin drone.
I had a MagnaFlow catback on order...but changed my mind at the SpeedMuffler shop comparing the sound of each. Both were nice...but the MF wasn't as throaty..IMO.
It only drones while in 5th gear at lower speeds, but you really get used to it. Other then that I like the solid sound of the 40 installed. such a deep sound I find my self wanting to drive under an overpass just to hear it. When getting on it to get on the highway it does a nice sound like a euro car.
When in cruise mode on the highway it sounds normal and does not bother me. Only the 5 th gear in and around town but not that bad.
Just installed my 40. Was worried about drone, but as stated before its only at low speeds in 5th gear, such as 45mph.
I wish it were louder though, such a nice sound and i can barely hear it with the windows up. So quiet that even when its droning, its not annoying, just a reminder to shift down to 4th.
