Fog Lamps

Today I realized that I can not get my fog lamps to turn on. Whether the parking brake is on or not, when I press the fog lamp button on the dash, the fog lamps do not turn on but the orange indicator light does. Am I missing something?

The low beams must be on for the fog lights to work.

Tried that too. With and without the AUTO function on.

Here is what is supposed to happen when you push the fog light button.

No lights on, autolights on, daylight:
Foglights and all markerlights turn on

No lights on, autolights off, daylight:
Foglights and all markerlights turn on

Autolights on, nighttime
Foglights turn on, headlights and marker lights are aready on

Autolights off, nighttime
Foglights turn on as well as all markerlights, you must turn the headlamps on.

Fog lights turn off when you hit your highbeams.

If you lights do not do the above you probably have a loose connection like SMartin had.

I have the same problem with mine. They worked for the first week but now they don't. Going to the dealer on Tuesday.

3691 ELECT DIAG. CHECKCONNECTION C103. NO POWER ON WIRE 2234 PURPLE
WIRE. CHECKED FOG LIGHT RELAY RELAY TURNS ON. R&R UNDER HOOD FUSE BLOCK
CHECK CONNECTOR C3. FOUND WIRE 2234 NOT IN CONNECTOR E5. CHECKED PIN.
PIN GOOD. RECONNECTED PIN AND CHECKED OPERATION. FOG LIGHT OPERATION GOOD

This one seems to be a somewhat common one, as I have no fog lights either, just havent gotten around to taking it to a random pointiac dealer since my dealer is a 160 miles away!

Oh no, not you too Ripple! I have an appointment at the dealer on Friday. I also seem to have a ticking noise when I first start the car for the day. Any ideas on that?

I have not heard any ticking sound at all - and yeah poor Makos fog lights have never shined.

I will get to the dealer soon, just have a ton of things going on at work though. Did you see the pictures of Mako post first detail? Look over in the detailing section.....

Hmmmm.... distinct possibility. I have pissed off quite a few people in my time here in the City.... but none of them are smart enough to pull something like that off!!!

Went to the dealer today and had mine repaired. Same problem as smartin. Printed out his readout and gave it to my dealer and sure enough, wire 2234 at connector e5 was loose. Repair complete and lights working.

Hey Smartin,
mine had the same problem. gave dealer your suggestion. They said, "don't know where you got your info.....but it was right on." Only had my beauty for a week and just noticed fog lights did not work. Thank goodness for my new family members with lots of answers.

Great info... but surfing the forum on a regular basis, I think I'm getting a little solocondriac (sp?)... as it now seems like almost every night I'm going to the garage to see if my Deep has this issue or that issue. Fortunately, my fog lights work! . And my dealer has called that the tail light bulb housing unit has arrived... but I think they forgot all about the radio software upgrade (as they made no mention of it). (Trying to consolidate my trips in so they can get everything done at once.)
