Good hat for driving?

Seems like a silly question but has anyone discovered an ideal hat for driving with the top down? I took my first long drive with the Sol's top down on Saturday and my face and forehead were rosy to say the least by the time I got home. The atmosphere offers less filtration at this altitude and the sun is intense. Obviously I need to remember the sunscreen next time.

I've got a gazillion baseball caps but they don't cover the ears. I've got wide brimmed hats but the back of the brim bumps the headrest and drives me crazy. There is the ubiquitous driving cap but it doesn't offer much ear coverage either. This will cover my needs but it's not exactly the look I'm going for:

A ball cap will do fine for an hour or two. I'm wondering about a good hat for an all-day drive

Not sure, most of them I got at either the GM online gift shop or Ebay.

A little later ..... Just did a search and I am pretty sure I got it from this site .. . . . . http://www.americanstarsonwheelsshop...ksels/beanies/

With all due respect, mixing stocking caps and convertibles is like trying to mix oil and water!! In the Southwest, that is indicative of an 'educated idiot'. LOL

The second picture is not very good - it is a blow-up from one taken two cars back, at speed - but you can see that the passenger is wearing a full-brimmed straw hat that I believe is called a "boater". The first picture is a little clearer, although not much, and not "at speed".

I wasn't very clear admittedly. In the SW USA, like in Phoenix, Arizona, we can get to REAL HOT! I have experienced 122 degrees Fahrenheit. Wearing a stocking cap in a convertible would not be very comfortable, and doing so might make people wonder about the one wearing that headgear on a day like that. I hope that clears up the headgear issue a bit.

I wear a Punisher Pontiac ball cap and SPF 80 sun block. We keep the sunblock in the car and use it. I always wear shorts too which means the sunblock goes on the arms and the legs before the top goes down. I don't have any issues.

The wife has very fair skin and always wears a sunblock hat. Wide brim and guaranteed to not pass bad sun to the skin.
