dealer finally replaced my new top, there are quite a few subtle changes that probably help the design, it seems a tighter more precise fit to snug to the doors, the draining conduits look more efficient, the butress wings are much better fit with almost no wrinkles.
it is back to being a pain in the butt snugging it into the trunk but that will loosen up I am sure.
they were going to send it to a specialist but since the top came as one piece my mechanic decided to give it a go and I am glad he did
me a very happy man
ps
if you are wise, try to get the dealership to use the same mechanic and always throw him a tip, they will really go out of their way for you if they know you appreciate their craftsmanship
it was the mechanic that insisted I needed a new top rather then get a bunch of new parts and do it piecemeal and I am pretty certain it's because he is looking out for me
show them you appreciate their concern for your care and they will have that concern
pss
there was something a little warmer with the top the way it wrinkled in the back, it looked more like a hand built top then factory
while the new top is a much better fit I sort of liked that "craftsmanship" feeling I got from my older top
never the less, I am very happy with the replacement
