*swoon* love it! Gonna ask my buddy if he can do something to stick this body on one of his fast RC stuff he races.
His drifter would look much better as a solstice.
I bought a Z3 Tamiya RC kit in 2001 and painted it to match my Z3. I was hoping Tamiya would have a Solstice kit or I could find a Solstice shell I could customize to replace my Z3 outer shell...but I can't find one. I contacted Tamiya last year about a Solstice kit or shell and they said they did not plan to make one at that time.

That's exactly what my buddy said. I told him I'd only spend money on all the racing items if I could get my hands on a Solstice shell.

I looked for it on the Target store but did not find it. I also saw it in the new Bronze/Orange color while at my local Fry's Electronics Store. They wanted $29.00 so I passed.
Old thread I know, but the link still works, I just ordered one - can't wait for it to arrive so I can paint it to match my car

We had one on the shelf for a while, brazen drop top. But it has since sold. I kept asking LiquidPT if he wanted it, but he passed..
If I see any other solstice/sky stuff come through I will post it up for you guys.. Yes I work for Target now..

I just bit the bullet and bought a Miasto Special Edition 1:24 2006 Solstice in BLUE on-line, for double what I should have paid for it. But I haven't been able to find it anywhere and it is a discontinued model. There is a Miasto 1:24 Opel GT and a Sky at my local Wal-Mart right now, but I didn't want to get going on another toy buying binge (although having every car off the Kappa platform would be kinda cool), so I'm just focusing on the 2006 Solstice in the Blue (same color as the real one in my garage. Interestingly enough, I've found 4: the 1:24 Miasto, the 1:64 Miasto, the Transformers Smokescreen (the only GOOD decepticon, for whatever that's worth), and a 1:18 New Bright RC. They're all BLUE, and that's probably the only way I'll buy them.

I saw that GXP in ToysRus earlier this year and contemplated buying it but didn't like the controls and also the price was ridiculous..something like $40 for something so small.
Saw the Brazen New Bright at Walmart last night, they had about 7 of them at my Wally World and I think they were only $16...Brazen in color with Black interior, but the tulip, rear valance and the winshield surround are incorrectly painted body color.
I did get the Blue New Bright Solstice from Target earlier this year, but of course I had to paint it to match Chief.
Painted on Pontiac arrowheads replaced the decals and painted the waterfall body color.
Interior painted to match my interior down to the ASAP air bag cover plate, hah. Painted silver chrome under the tail light covers.
Painted backup lights and clear lens'd it then painted the red reflector section and the 3rd brake light (trying to think how to make my plate still)

to make your plate, take a picture, then print it out on paper then glue it to the toy car. If you want to really get nutz, find some clear plastic like they use to laminate business cards/photo ID with, then laminate your print out of your license plate to the shape and size of a licence plate cover.
I like the work you did with the painting. very nice.
Sorry to drag this topic up again but last week I received my RC solstice and I want to paint it red to match my solstice. What color red paint did you use to paint your RC solstice and how do I go about painting it so it looks as nice as yours? I absolutely love the job you did on it.
One more thing, if you can help me figure out a way to get rid of that "bumper" attachment thing on the remote control car that would be great too.

I got my paint from the auto paint section at a local auto parts store (advance auto). I just picked a Red that I liked and got clear to go with it as well as a primer. You might also consider Model car paint, Like Testors which might actually work better but really isn't made to be as durable.
First thing I did was sand down the body using 800 grit to get a good paintable surface. I did tape off the windshield and Silver painted Tulip as well as removed the headlights and taillights. Also removed the cockpit from the body. Everything can be reattached using hot glue so don't worry.
Once it was roughed up with the 800 grit I sprayed on the primer in light coats about 2.
Then sanded that down with the 800 to get a smooth surface.
Then just put on 3 or 4 light coats of Red and then sanded that smooth with 1500.
Clear went on last with 3 coats and it came to a duller finish than I preferred so I once again broke out the sandpaper and sanded the clear with 2000 all around and then used a cleaner/wax polish to get the shine back.
Once the main body was painted I did all the detail work to the interior and the door handles using Testor Chrome Silver paint.
The front "bumper" I think is part of the chassis and can probably be removed by cutting it off with a dremel or a super sharp hobby knife.
Good Luck and post up some pics when you are done!
