2008 Pontiac Solstic/Saturn Sky (M-Platform) Service Manual Set

Price: $135.00
In Stock - Reproduction of Original Publication

Qty:
Pkg Qty: 1
Media: Paper
Language: English
Item/Part #: GMP08M

Putting it into my shopping cart, I get this message:

This manual is a digital reprint of the original publication. It is possible that this item will be in loose-leaf format. Any wiring diagrams in the original shop/service manual are NOT reproduceable and are no longer available.

Has anybody ordered this and found it to be the case? The wiring diagrams are the main reason I want the thing so I can remove the OnStar and XM systems completely. Without those diagrams, the set isn't worth $135, especially if it is loose-leaf!

I've emailed them, after trying to call, but they aren't open on weekends.

I ordered a set for a 2006 model 8 months ago. I got two bound books. Where are you ordering yours from? I called the Pontiac dealer and they gave me an 800 number to call. I'm guessing your just on their website.

Helm, Inc is the publisher of the manual. www.helminc.com

XM is pretty lame. The stations are all copies of my local station's formats. Sure, no commercials, but I can achieve the same thing with an MP3 player and can skip songs I don't want to hear without having to jump around the stations for something good. The service isn't worth the money, and I'm sure either the quality will go down or the price will go up once they finish merging with Sirius.

As for OnStar, it doesn't play nice with aggressive driving, and I don't need or want navigation or "maintenance checks."

Mainly, I don't want any system on my car that requires a service fee to function.

On top of that, both systems do a good job of ruining the look of the car with those damn antennas.

Since I couldn't order an '08 without this garbage, I'm taking its removal into my own hands.

GM has been updating their service information and warrnaty systems to global platforms.

Service Information which contains the service manuals, was updated around the first of the year. A big part of the changes was the presentation, terminology and symbols used. Dealerships use online versions for these manuals mostly. For example, we only buy a paper copy when there is a new model.

It would not surprise me that the format of the electrical sections also changed.

I would suggest a possible pizza run to your local dealership one day at lunch and see if they will print out the schematics you need. Lots of extra cheese for $135.

Why alphajesse wants to uninstall is immaterial.

Why the manual is a copy of the original and may not contain the wiring diagrams is a huge deal. Please keeps us posted as I would like to order one as well but I want the original manual, not a copy of the original.

I would have to say the wiring diagrams are in there. I know my guys that did my engine conversion relied on those books to help them out. I'll check this week as I'm going back to the shop for a few things. Give me a few days though. I might even be able to copy the pages your looking for, however, mine is a 2006.

I've bought the FSM for every car I've ever owned, and it's always been worth the money. I generally do all my own work, and having the whole thing always helps when planning modifications or resolving problems on my own.

It may be a "copy" because Helm may have moved to a print-on-demand model. Annoying, but that's fine.

The bigger deal is the possibility that the wiring diagrams are omitted!

I'd appreciate that, and I was considering buying the '07 manual (which is listed as a 2-volume set still) but I'm concerned that the older model wiring diagrams may be missing information with some of the standard equipment changes particularly the electrical changes like the power seat height adjustment, door panel unlock switches and mandatory OnStar/XM.

Hopefully Helm gets back to me soon!

Yeah, that's how the 06 is listed on the Helm site, too.

I'm ordering it tonight, and at the worst, this email will give me a solid foundation for a chargeback if the manual is looseleaf without wiring diagrams and they won't refund me.

Maybe I want it back, and the best way to make sure I get to keep it is to remove the OnStar system before it can be used to track down the car?
