How to remove "tulip panel"?

Is it possible to remove the Tulip panel as I need to get access to the bottom in order to mount one of the flap doors. Had to remove it, no big deal, because it was not lined up properly and was nicked up on the edges. Sanded and smoothed out the door and repainted it. Was going to buy a new door but the Chevy dealer said it was going to cost about $125!!! A bit steep for a small fiberglass/plastic door. Anyway, I am learning even more cuss words trying to reinstall the trap door due to the spring tension needed on the one hinge pin. I have already lost one spring somewhere in the inner workings of the car...don't want to lose another. So...if it is possible to remove the tulip panel, I think the mounting of the pin/spring/door would be so much easier. Any ideas?

I hope this helps. While this one is from a Sky, the Solstice version is nearly identical, it should give you a good idea of where to start.

Here's the steps necessary-

Slide front seats forward and tilt seat back down.
Remove door sill trim. Refer to Door Sill Plate Replacement.
Remove lock pillar trim panel. Refer to Body Lock Pillar Trim Panel Replacement.
Remove the rear window panel trim. Refer to Rear Window Panel Trim Replacement.
Remove the front side door rear weatherstrip. Refer to Front Side Door Rear Weatherstrip Replacement.

Now that's a good point... you may want to reconsider and just sweat it out with the springs. That weather strip my not be so easy to remove in a way that it'll stick back on securely, and it's d8mned expensive to get new pieces.

If I remember correctly it's bolted and glued in. Takes a lot of work and they end up getting damaged in the process.

Thanks for the advice! I have printed it out for future reference. But as luck would have it, I went out to the garage a couple of hours ago and tried to put it in one more time before doing any dismantling. Holy cow! It went in with no problems at all. Works like a charm again! Maybe some minor adusting, bending tabs, and all should be good.

Yes, I agree, it looks like the panel has that black body adhesive on it that the manufacturers and body guys use that eliminates welding. Probably would have been a real chore to remove.
