Progressive has declared the car totalled. They want to give me 19,282.79 for it. That sucks for sure, but I actually kinda wanted a second chance after hearing the estimate.
With repair estimates near $7500 they decided to go ahead and total it because it was only about 3 grand from being a complete and total loss. I'm glad because many people told me that once a car is repaired it may never run right again... sputtering, leaking, etc. And with a brand new car, I don't need maintenance headaches like that.
I've already talked to Dealernut about ordering a new one, so I will be back in a Solstice... just not #1599. Today I get to go back to the dealership to see about my gap coverage and refunding my extended warranty.
Now with my second chance I can order Monsoon and an upgraded headunit that I've been dying for. Other than that she'll be identical to Janey though. Hopefully I won't have to wait too much longer.
Here are some pics that Progressive took when they got the car to their facility to examine it.
Obviously everything marked with a green X is damaged and needed to be replaced.

Everything happens for a reason, Dori.
I hope you don't have to stay out of the Solstice for too long, friend.

Ordered Aggressive February 16, 2006.
Aggressive, polished, cloth, power, and convenience. LSD, A/B, A/C, Monsoon, and MP3.
Dori - sorry to hear in some respects but this was similar to my SpecV being written off 2 summers ago by my son. You wouldn't be happy with a repaired Solstice. At first your pissed and furious then when you get to look at the cheque and potential for another Sol (and the options you would like to have), then that's sweet. If you look at the difference between the cheque and what you paid for Janey, divide by the time you had her, it may just look a monthly lease with nothing down!
That sucks! But like you stated now you can get what you realized you should have ordered in the first place. And you don't know, even fixed correctly, if the handling of this car wouldn't have ever been quite what it was. I wouldn't want to discover that into a hard turn or something. Stick in there, you may get your new one and be driving it faster than i will be driving mine in Michigan due to the weather conditions.

Doesn't look like our little babies fair too well in a pile up. Took an awful lot of internal damage for no worse than the outside looked. Best of luck to ya Dori. See how much they want for it after they total it. Maybe you can build a racer out of it.

Sorry to hear about your Janey. I have followed your journal throughout and wish you and your "New Janey" well. Consider purchasing the salvage Janey and part it out in pieces on ebay. That would make it easier to get the aftermarket parts that you really want including the upgraded stereo head unit. Also, the wheels and tires on Janey, 3 of them, are still in good condition. Ditto the seats and other stuff. Also consider a GXP.
