leaks -water on driver side floor-help finding source

doldrums and itching to drive (( I T ))) again - been raining here for weeks......ginourmous muddy slop hole at edge of driveway haha has kept me penned in.......
anyways YEP I GOT A LEAK - only driverside floor gets wet - .....looked at base of windshield ?? not seeing anything OBVIOUS .....
SMALL tear at top weatherstripping - ???-@ roofline obviously stuck together and tore lil nugglet upon openning - anyone know of a weather stripping goop substance /liquid gasket ??.....not sure its the source ???......but if i can find appropriate goop to seal that ???.........
ITS NOT LEAKIN AT WINDSHIELD ROOF CONNECTION - getting or draining on floor from ?????? idk where....
OTHERWISE........ANYBODY ELSE SOLVED LEAKS
or had water on driverside floor and figured it out ??????

I don't know of any repair stuff for the seals (not that there isn't any, just none that I know). I would try a dollop of black silicone caulk - but make sure it's smoothed out level with the rest of the seal.

As for the leaks, there have been many threads and different fixes. Sorry I don't have links you'll have to search yourself.

thats a good idea - i was thinking liquid gasket - some black silicone caulk prolly much better idea....assume like for a tub or roof ?
how to do it NEATLY ...any clue on solvent for clean up....tips

my caulking memories/experience = always messy....... yeah yeah tape it off ....read the tube....
not lookin forward to this experiment ....

You can get tubes of Permatex brand black silicone in most auto parts stores - prolly Wallymart too. Yes, tape off everywhere you don't want it. Smooth it with a piece of flat plastic (an old credit card is good), then smooth again with water and a clean edge of the plastic - or even a wet finger. (Note water won't do any damage, it actually acts as a catalyst for most silicone caulk, to harden it)

PLEASE NOTE: this is just an idea. I don't know if it'll work properly or not and I take no responsibility if it doesn't!

E.g. Buy Permatex Black Silicone Adhesive Sealant 81158 at Advance Auto Parts

Unless I saw a seriously damaged or worn rubber seal, I would attempt the silicone also if it were my personal ride. Biggest thing I've found with caulking/sealing is to open the tip only as large as absolutely necessary and be slow and extremely patient. Use the absolute minimum amount.

A wet finger then can smooth the surface nicely.

Just because you mentioned it might not be the source, there's also potential for leaks around the firewall near the pedals.

Have a friend break out the hose and climb around inside until you find the stream :-D

I agree w/ idkfa.. My driver side floor gets wet as well and I tend to feel a cold air draft when I turn off the heat so its definitely coming from the firewall area. I haven't identified it either. But, will have it on jack stands at the end of the month poking around that area. As for the surrounds I usually thoroughly clean all rubber surface and apply a light coat of dielectric grease haven't had a problem so far.. If you do find the cause please share..

The seals on the car are pretty good. There have been complaints about leaks due to the side window not coming into full contact with the rubber seals. The windows are adjustable for height, and in / out angle. Also, some over the door seals, since they fold with the top have been known to stick and not fully open when the top is up. A little spray lube on the hinge point can not hurt.

I had a T top Camero when we lived in Seattle in the 70s. I used silicone sealer every winter to stop the rain coming into the car. It peeled off in the spring

After a rain I have found water on the outer door sill but never any on the Carpet. I use to go through a touchless car wash and the power spray came in at the front of the window but not all the time.

The best way to check for a water leak is to start at the lowest point of the car with water and gradually move up to the highest point. That way you eliminated may points of entry and can just concentrate on a few. Just because you see a probable point of entry doesnt mean that you've found the exact spot.
