   Lil' Chromies, price?

If I read it right the price of the Lil' Chromies are $24.99 each, is this correct? Fifty bucks for two pieces of turned metal seem a bit high. I really want to buy a set but the practical side of my brain keeps telling me no. Hehe, it also told me not to buy a Solstice but I didn't listen to it then, why should I start now.

The $$ is for the pair, not just one! Mine are on the way, stubby antenna arrived today, will have an assortment of parts before my Sol arrives!

If you had read all the words you would have seen that they are $24.99 a SET. Which for Highly Polished Stainless Steel (Not Chrome as I orginally stated) is not a bad price. (Prices of metals in the last year have risen over 60% the largest increase in over 40 years - I know, I sell steel product).

They aren't chrome though.

They are polished steel. But for a USA-machined, custom stainless steel accessory, for a niche market... the price seems on the high-end of fair.

These aren't made out of anything special and do not have an extravagant design. You can find other billet aluminum door lock pulls on eBay for $5. So, that argument doesn't hold much with me.

And the thinking of this being a niche market is not really true either. I'm pretty sure these Lil' Chromies can be screwed on to other cars as well. So, it is not like they can only be sold to Solstice owners.

If metal has gone up to $25 an ounce, the price of the Solstice would be $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.......

By the way, I think these Lil' Chromies look great, but are just a little too much for my taste. I will just wait until a competitor has some better ones for half the price. I have nothing against kappasphere, since I plan on buying the windscreen, intake, and possibly exhaust from them.

Never seen a good looking windscreen until this one...I gotta have one too! I'll save the money on the locks and put it in the screen. Looks so good, like part of the designers plan!

The posting in this thread is Ok. The main concern is that forum members don't dis the product in the Vendor's original thread.

The POLL2005 coupon knocks 5% off the price.

My post in the first thread got deleted for breaking rules, so here it is again in a nutshell.

I like the way they look, but for me, $25 is too much to pay for door locks, no matter who makes them. I don't give a crap if they are gold plated with diamonds on them, $25 is too much for my wallet.

Besides, like I said in the other thread, I'm not sure if I'll actually like them on the car. The stock ones are cheap plastic, but you hardly notice them. With these really nice stainless things on, I'm affraid they will stick out annoyingly so. So while I might consider them if they were cheaper, I'd have to see them on a car to decide, both from inside and out, top up, top down, windows up, windows down.

I respect your opinon, however to say Stainless Steel isn't "Special"? - tell that to the contractors that come into our business and have to buy Stainless nails for certain applications!
The cost is very expensive for such a small quantity - but considering that Stainless Steel has a very high resistance to corrision and their life expectancy is 10x that of any other nail the cost is justified.

So... for $5 you get an aluminum, easily bent, nicked, lock pulls that may look nice for what 2-3 years.

For $20 more you have polished stainless steel that does not bend, nick or tarnish and will look very good for the life time of the car.

BTW: metals have gone up - just not the ones used in the making of cars. If you're not in the business don't judge the ones who know what we're talking about please! If you have any questions you can PM me re: details.
