maxblast +1 = 2 and I didn't have to use a calculator.
So which was it - fingers or toes?
Just got back from the pre-run with Lil O and Reed, what a great day! You guys are going to have a great time. I won't say more, I'll let Chris give you the details.
The pre-run was fantastic. We ironed out the last of the Eastern roads and scored big time on the finish at a great winery. It all ends with wine, live music, noshes and, for those who elect to stay, dinner.
Getting back home cannot be made easier. There are clear markings for the roads that route you to 495 (the Long Island Expressway). If you prefer to avoid the LIE, where we will end up is a short hop from 25A, which, taken west will join with 347, which dumps into the Northern State Parkway. It's a simple and easy straight line home after a full day of twisties and back roads.
Some of you have obligations elsewhere and are certainly welcome to jump off the run to meet them. Here is a schedule of where you can expect to find yourself and when.
Start
Diner Breakfast, Roslyn at 25A and Searingtown Rd. 7:00 AM
Drivers Meeting 7 :45
Rollout 8:00, Begin Section One, 20 miles.
9:00 AM, End Section One, Tappen Park, Prospect Ave., Glen Head. Short P-Stop.
Rollout 9:20 AM, Begin Section Two, 55 miles. Short P-Stop included at mile 42.
11:45 AM/Noon, End Section Two, "The Shack", 25A, Northport, Lunch.
Rollout 12:30 PM, Begin Section Three, 24 miles.
1:30 PM End Section Three. Moriches Road, Smithtown Landing. No stop.
Rollthrough 1:30 PM, Begin Section Four, 40 miles. (Section four swings north away from Main Street and 25A in Stony Brook at approximately 2:15 PM).
4:00 PM Arrive at Baiting Hollow Winery, Sound Ave., Baiting Hollow.
The run is over.
Musicians play until 6:00 PM.
Outdoor tables can be set up for our group, snack platters can be arranged. The red wines are excellent. For dinner, there are several restaurants. "Lobster Roll" is about 4 miles down the road. Excellent seafood and reasonable prices. Fancier fare can be had and the winery informs us they can bring in food from "Cooperage Inn" next door.
Please also note:
Originally, this run was scheduled to start at 8, with breakfast from 7. Some people asked if I could push it down to Breakfast 7:30/Start 8:30. I attempted to accomodate them and it has been posted thus.
I regret I must return to an 8 AM start. We have to reach the lunch spot prior to noon in order to secure parking. (They open at noon and then get very busy.) Pre-Run testing shows we are going to be tight for time.
If you can only make it by 8, eat on the way and I'll brief you on anything you need to know at the first P-stop.
+2? So will you be driving Geraldine, or do you plan to make the extra passenger ride between the humps on the back deck?
