My 2008 Deep GXP :)

I just thought i'd post some pictures of my 2008 Deep GXP. I havnt done too much appearance wise but i still love it so much more than stock, it's the little details that count!

Mods in pictures include:

*Kappasphere Lowering Springs

*Painted Brake Calipers

*Fully Debadged the back of the car and Added the turbo badge to the center light.

*Removed the annoying GM squares.

*Painted my stock IC pipes and Engine Cover. (You will notice i didnt paint the whole pipe on the passenger side and that's because that part gets really hot and i need to buy some really high temperature resistant spray paint.....been too lazy, and i dont think it looks too bad at all as is).

*Stubby Antenna

*3 layers of light vinyl tint on the front side markers

*1 layer of light vinyl tint on the reverse lights.

*1 layer of light vinyl tint on front passenger side foglight (i barely saw a difference when i did it and i got lazy so i never did the driver side foglight, but in the picture you can REALLY tell lol, so i think i'll stop being lazy and i'll do it when i get home tonight. It honestly will only take 5 minutes). But on the bright side atleast we now have a comparison of how much of a difference 1 layer of light shade tint will look like compared to stock

*Front and back splash Guards.

I never quite thought about it but im estimating that all this cost about...$280-$300, most of the cost coming from lowering springs ($150 shipped & installed myself) and splash guards ($80 total i believe).

I also have the Dejon IC but i dont really consider that an appearance mod.

What do you guys think?
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

You can barely see the side marker ! I love it !
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

A little blurry, sorry!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Much clearer, and you can see where i didnt paint the pipe.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yep, that's the dejon IC you see lol, and my non-tinted driver side foglight (will be tinted tonight! i promise ! haha)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

1 layer of that tint REALLY made a difference. They used to be way too bright.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hope you enjoyed reading/looking !

Carlos

Hey Deep-GXP just wondering why u didnt go with blue on every thing? I have plans for the same thing but going with a dark blue. Your red does look nice though.

08 DEEP GXP with King Penn W.R.and Shorty ant. Baby has been debaged. Were both happy.

I had thought about color matching like you said but the arrow badges on the side are red already, so i decided to paint the calipers red. Once the calipers were painted i then decided to paint the engine cover and IC pipes to match. It's just me, i like the blue/red combination

Thanks!!

Thank you very much. I really wanted to get rid of the badges on the side but i found out there are holes behind it. Then i looked into norms fenders but it's out of my budget. Plus now it matches with the calipers and engine bay so i think i'll keep the stock fenders now

Im now currently thinking about Vans Vents for the rear lights and side dimples.

Wow....outstanding. Very well done.

Your work is so good, I want to throw something at you....I've been considering buying a GXP, and really dislike the front grills. I am strongly considering removing the center main grills AND the two outside brake cooling grills around the fog lights/turn signals, and:

1. Painting the egg crate center areas a DARK METAL LOOKING GREY.
2. Painting all the surrounding trim edges and the part that circles around the fog lights a bright silver. I am talking about the part that runs around the OUTSIDE of the center grills (it would make like a D shape).

Since you are obviously good at this kind of thing, have you ever considered something like this???? I also want a Deep GXP, and think this would look incredible on one...

I know exactly what you mean and that doesnt sound hard at all. Im not a big fan of the bright silver idea but that's only because i like a darker look. You've definitely made me think about removing my grills and painting them! Maybe just a darker black.

Hmm, would the rear valance (im guessing at the name, i mean the gray piece that surrounds the exhaust) look good all black? If i did that i'd feel like i'd have to paint the splash guards the same black. And if i did that, i'd feel like i have to paint the inside of the wheel well the same black. So that would be the 2 front center grills, 2 fog light grills, the grill that runs on the bottom of the front bumper, the rear valance, splash guards and wheel wells all black.....lol.........too much? Dupli color has fabric spray paint, maybe spray paint the inside floors black? lol Not sure about all that but im thinking the front grills for sure atleast until i get the recessed grills from aftershock.

Oh Lord. The Aftershock recessed grills! Are they done yet? I also have been dying and whining for recessed grills for years now. I want grills that are like the ones on every other Pontiac model. Recessed with a trim ring that is chrome (or better yet a smoked chrome).

Oh, and the reason I had been thinking about going with a "bright silver" to trim the front grills was to match the windshield surround and the area behind the seats that are a bright silver....Anyway, I really like your thought processes on all this....

I want the same grills! Been trying to figure out how to get the chrome around the front grills without resorting to the "poor mans chrome" spray paint. Anyone know anyplace that does Vacuum Plating?

Found this site but I'm still looking for someplace local to me. Chrome Plating Plastic - C.V. Vacuum Platers Inc.

Looks great deep-GXP! Any detail on how you painted the engine parts? Did you have to sand down the IC pipes?
I got some color matched (Deep) paint to paint my engine cover, but now I think I'll have to do the pipes as well.

For the engine cover i just put a strip of masking tape over the letters and used a sharp kitchen knife (held it like a pencil), and i took my time cutting around the letters. For the IC pipes, all i need was clean them off before paint, masked off the holes on the driver side pipe and stuffed newspaper into the ends so i wouldnt get paint inside the pipes. I have a how-to which i'll PM to you after this message

btw, incase you guys were wondering. I did end up tinting the other fog light, i just havnt updated the pics lol.

And also, im going to take off the front splash guards, the back ones can stay.

Lowering Springs + Front Splash guards = embarassment going over speed bumps.
